Maharishi University Celebrates Founder’s Day by Counting Blessings

On September 12th, Maharishi University of Management celebrated its founder His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who established the University in 1971. University President Dr. Bevan Morris arrived from Vlodrop to be present at this special occasion. A replay of the event can be viewed online as the September 14 Maharishi’s Global Family Chat.
“Maharishi has always taken our attention away from himself to Guru Dev,” said Dr. Morris. “He said the teaching was important not the individual teacher himself, but he did permit this one day for us to sing his glory from the depth of our hearts.”
The theme of the evening was "counting our blessings." Dr. Morris had invited everyone earlier to write down how Maharishi blessed their lives. “Because our founder has found us, we have found ourselves,” said Dr. Evan Finkelstein Professor of Vedic ScienceSM.
Faculty and community members read stories about their meetings with Maharishi, and expressed their gratitude by enumerating Maharishi’s greatest achievements over 53 years of his work: the Transcendental Meditation® program, the TM-Sidhi® program, Teacher Training Course, advanced techniques, Maharishi Ayur-Veda, Maharishi JyotishSM, the translation and commentary of the Bhagavad-Gita, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design, Consciousness-BasedSM education, M.U.M., Maharishi School, the Golden Domes, the Vedic Pandits, and the Invincible America Assembly.
“Maharishi gave me the blessing of helping to educate children in total knowledge,” said Dr. Ashley Deans, Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment. David Weisman was thankful for the "blessing and responsibility of becoming a teacher of Maharishi’s knowledge to pass the guru’s light to others.”
Following the individual presentations, Dr. Morris read samples from the 150 expressions he received. The evening concluded with a tape of Maharishi speaking on January 11 of 2008.
Maharishi explained that the source of his actions was the unfathomable, silent field of Natural Law where everything happens automatically. “I was simply working,” he said. “I didn’t know from where all the instruments are coming to shape the world”.
