The principles of immortality found in Nature and our own human physiology

Global Good News, 31 August and 11 September 2007

Dr John Hagelin, Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace, spoke recently at a Global Press Conference on Unified Field-Based Health Care—one of the programmes of the Global Financial Capital of New York—about the principles of immortality found in Nature and in our human physiology, and their source in the Unified Field of Natural Law.

Dr Hagelin began by saying that Unified Field-Based Medicine, which we will see is also Vedic medicine or Consciousness-Based medicine, is an extremely effective, scientifically documented approach to the prevention and treatment of disease. Extensive research—over 600 published studies during the past quarter century conducted at 250 independent universities and research institutes at 35 countries throughout the world—have confirmed the wide-ranging benefits to individual health and longevity of this Unified Field-Based approach to medicine.

One of these fundamental aspects of Unified Field-Based Medicine is the Transcendental Meditation technique, brought to the world fifty years ago by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This is a modern scientific revival of the ancient Vedic Science and Technology of consciousness from the Vedic Tradition of India.

If we look at the different findings in all the scientific research conducted on these technologies of consciousness, we see that the changes physiologically that occur through the application of Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health are in the direction of increasing longevity—that is improved life-span, enlivening immortality in the nature of the human physiology, said Dr Hagelin.

'All the changes through this approach to medicine are 180 degrees opposite to the direction of change that results through the ageing process, through the accumulated wear and tear on the physiology.'

In a nutshell, Dr Hagelin said, Unified Field-Based Medicine is medicine and therapies based upon the unified level of the human physiology. We talk about the Unified Field and Unified Field-Based Medicine as enlivening longevity, enlivening immortality, in the nature of the human physiology. We are now in a position to understand what that means and where is immortality in Nature.

'Immortality is not obvious in the universe around us,' said Dr Hagelin, 'because virtually everything we see on a material level is in constant state of flux, a constant state of change. Even the longest living system, such as the universe itself, is still in a state of change. But underlying this change are a set of fundamental principles, the so-called laws of nature, which themselves are unchanging; for example, Newton's laws of motion, Einstein's general relativistic field equations, Maxwell's electromagnetic field equations, and so forth, the laws of thermodynamics, the laws of statistical mechanics.

'To what do the laws of nature owe their immortality? Why are the laws of nature eternally unchanging? The laws of nature are rooted in the unmanifest Unified Field. The laws of nature have their eternal origin, their dynamical source in the Unified Field of all the laws of nature. And the Unified Field is itself beyond time and beyond change. The Unified Field is the field of immortality—it exists beyond the changing world of classical space and time. The Unified Field is the only thing in nature that is beyond the field of change.

'So the Unified Field itself stands beyond time,' said Dr Hagelin, 'and all the laws of nature governing the fundamental forces and particles of Nature arise from the Unified Field through a process of 'spontaneous symmetry breaking'. But the Unified Field itself is changeless, beyond time. So the laws of nature are anchored in the timeless. The laws of nature have their eternal source in the Unified Field, which is beyond time. That is why the laws of nature are immortal, eternal, and why the Unified Field is the field immortality, the field of eternity.'

Maharishi Vedic Medicine enlivens the quality of immortality in human awareness and human physiology, Dr Hagelin continued, because Maharishi Vedic Medicine—Consciousness-Based Health Care has techniques to enliven the Unified Field in the individual awareness and in the individual physiology.

Dr Hagelin showed a chart showing one of the most important technologies of consciousness that are fundamental to Maharishi Vedic Medicine. The chart shows the Transcendental Meditation Programme as a technique to turn the attention powerfully within to experience and explore deeper levels of human awareness, more fundamental levels of the mind.

This inward exploration of consciousness culminates in the direct experience of the Unified Field at the source of thought, at the origin of mind and matter, said Dr Hagelin. Transcendental Meditation therefore takes human awareness from the outwardly directed experience through the senses, to the inward directed flow of awareness to experience the Unified Field at the source of thought, and to enliven this experience in the individual awareness and physiology.

'Thus Maharishi Vedic Medicine includes techniques to directly enliven the Unified Field, the field of immortality, in human physiology,' said Dr Hagelin. 'And we can therefore see that a direct consequence of the practice of Transcendental Meditation will be an increasing quality of immortality, which is the ultimate level of longevity in human physiology, in human life.'

'Immortality represents the ideal of health, because immortality means the ultimate level of longevity. Longevity and immortality mean imperviousness to change, to deterioration, to decay, to wear and tear on the physiology, so that the physiology maintains its vitality and integrity over time. If immortality could be lived in life, this would be the ultimate level of longevity, vitality, and absolutely robust and indomitable health,' Dr Hagelin said.

By enlivening immortality in the physiology, we are taking the physiology in the direction of increasing health and longevity. So when we see the results of Transcendental Meditation—reduction in every category of disease, including infectious diseases,. . . we see these results as all in the direction of increasing longevity, all as a consequence of increasing immortality in human awareness and human physiology.

'Indeed studies have been conducted on the biological age of short term and long term practitioners of Transcendental Meditation and confirmed what we'd expect on the basis of the previous research,' Dr Hagelin continued. 'These studies confirm that the biological age of a short term and longer-term meditator are increasingly less than controls. That means increasingly less than their so-called chronological age.

'The person may be getting older in years, but in the crucial aspects of physiological function—physiological dynamism and so forth—is becoming younger and not older. This is obviously an extraordinary result in the field of health and captures the significance and profundity of the potential of Maharishi's Unified Field Based Medicine.'
